The summer holidays are nearly at an end and no doubt, as a parent you’re fed up of hearing “I’m bored” or “Can we do something?”. We still have plenty going on this week to keep you and the kids entertained check out our list of seven things you can do this week.
1. Visit our Maize Maze
There’s still time to get lost in our Maize Maze at Forge Mill Farm, West Bromwich.
Open every day 10am to 4pm until Sunday 2 September.
Admission includes farm activities and costs £2.50 for adults, £1.50 for over 60s and children up to age 16 (under twos get in for free).
2. Free swimming for kids
Children can swim for free in Sandwell. All you need to do is register online or pop to your local leisure centre to sign up. As long as you live in Sandwell and children are 16 and under they will be able to swim for free at any of our leisure centres.
3. Free breakfast in our libraries
A number of our libraries are offering children a free breakfast along with activities. Visit Blackheath Library, Glebefields Library, Rounds Green Library and Stone Cross Library to get free cereal and fruit juice and join in the activities.
4. Fun at the farm
Visit Sandwell Park farm or Forge Mill Farm and get up close and personal with the animals. You can meet our goats, watch the cows being milked and hold our fluffy little chicks.
5. Visit one of our parks
Fingers crossed, the weather is set to get better so why not visit one of our parks? We have lots of parks and green spaces in Sandwell – a number of which have the prestigious Green Flag Award for quality.
6. Visit one of our museums
There’s a sports theme all week at our museums. We have an artificial beach at the Manor House on Friday 31 August and many other activities at the Oak House, Haden Hill House and Wednesbury Mueum and Art Gallery.
7. Friday night sports takeover
For older children (aged 12 to 19) there is a great event at West Bromwich Leisure Centre this Friday (31 August). From 4pm to 8pm young people can take part in sports including football and swimming for free. No need to book just turn up.
